Des Williams from Melbourne Australia contacted us recently and wrote the following:
Dear Karin and Bert,
|
I am a member of both Diving
Historical Societies in the USA and UK and of course here in Australia. I
often spend time on the Internet looking through diving historical sites
and was very pleased to find your Website recently. I just had to e-mail you, to say what a wonderful Website you have produced. Congratulations! You have included some very interesting old helmets I have never seen before and you have done a wonderful job of producing the photographs. I have a working US Navy Mark V standard outfit, which I often dive with friends here in Melbourne. Like your working equipment group, we also have a lot of fun. Recently, I entered into the big Diving Historical Society Raffle in the USA and won the second prize, which was a new Desco Abalone helmet. Do you know of this raffle? You can imagine how excited I was to win and when the helmet finally arrived in Melbourne, I just had to take it for a dive! So, with a few of my friends from DHS, we spent a weekend at the coastal township of Portland and gave the helmet a christening. I thought you might like to see a couple of photographs of the event. |
I had to borrow a dress from a
friend, who has a Chinese outfit, as my Mark V dress doesn't fit the
abalone hat. I also fitted a telephone link to the hat myself and we were
ready to dive. It is a great hobby to have and now with the Internet we are able to network with people with the same interest, all over the world. Keep up the good work, and maybe one day we will meet. Hope you enjoy the attached photos. Yours Faithfully, DES WILLIAMS MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA |
