Introduction

The company of Signore Roberto Galeazzi was founded in 1938. The company became especially famous for the production of all kinds of hyperbaric diving equipment, atmospheric diving suits, observation chambers and oceanographic research systems. Besides all this, they produced diving helmets in three styles:

Marina

A very nice Marina helmet. Notice the comm box that was placed on the top left of the bonnet.

A rare find? Indeed it is! Sold as a Galeazzi helmet but with something suspicious about it.
Do you notice that a Chilean bonnet does not fit an Italian breastplate?

Grand Luz

Great helmet that could do with a nice bath!

It will turn out something like this.

Galeazzi PGB hemet

Inside view of the breastplate, showing the mixture device

Here is a very rare helmet. It is the experimental PGB oxygen/helium helmet.  The prototype was made by Pirelli, Belloni and Galeazzi (that's why it is called the PGB...). The diver would breath the mixture through a mouthpiece, connected to a devide on the breastplate. Dress and helmet were pressurized with compressed air, to save on the expensive mixture. Only 2 of these helmets were ever made. Photo courtesy: Giancarlo Bartoli.
