1997. DESCO Company 60th Anniversary 1937-1997 Commemorative Abalone Diving
Helmet.
In 1997 The HDS commissioned Desco to produce a double tinned Abalone helmet with an HDS custom sterling silver plaque by Torgny Jewelers and original company brass manufacturer's plaque. All four straps are individually serial numbered and have custom HDS sterling silver helmet logos on them. Constructed to the original DESCO specifications with double brass bar port guards. This type of DESCO helmet was popular with several of the early California oil field diving companies in the early 1960's. A few models were converted to helium recirculators by Bob Kirby, (see R. Kirby section) and a few to helium demand helmets by Bob Ratcliffe (see Bob Ratcliffe section). A Limited Edition of 20 individually numbered helmets with HDS Certificates of Authenticity, were manufactured and available at $3,500 each. SOLD OUT.
